I Am A No-Good Scoundrel & Traitor was created by WABBMW
In past years I have attended the International Motorcycle Show, in Houston, Texas and then again in Dallas last month. I did 2 full days of demo rides. Rode the wheels off of everything in sight.

I like the concept of a naked sport bike, with its great engine, and superb handling, and with an upright riding position and pedals that are more forward than a true sport bike. I've had my eye on a Kawasaki Z1000 for several years, and in 2011, there is a Ninja 1000 that I really like as well. But a new bike is just beyond my budget.

Then, in a weaker moment, I bought a 2009 Yamaha FZ1 that only had 600 miles on it. I can't stop grinning.

I will keep my KZ650, so is there any way I can be forgiven for my sins?

No you are not a traitor! Ive been eyeing the dark red FZ1 for years as my next bike. I will have the FZ1 one day. I loved my R1 but not practical for long rides. The FZ1 is perfect for me and the longer "touring" type rides I like to do.

Nice looking bike you have there. No sin to own a Yamaha in my opinion. (I also purchased a new to me Yamaha this summer.) :)

Just read a review on the new Ninja 1000...I think it'll take it to the FZ line pretty well. Nice wheels!

Hey Guy,

You're always welcome here if only to keep sight of the bikes in your windscreen. I just read the comparison of the Z1000 and the Yamaha FZ1. They pretty much dissed the FZ1 because it needs too many revs to produce the power that the Kawi makes down low. Check out the January 2011 edition of Motorcyclist.

Course there proally ain't one of us here who can ride either of these bikes to their potential so Enjoy your ride, Yamaha's are great bikes

My friend bought one brand new in 2008,it was his first bike and folks we knew were telling him i had steered him wrong, that he should start small, nothing like starting on a nice bike....he loves it and other than one small 2 mph tip over on day 2 has been trouble free.......i rode it a few times and was digging it...great bike...does what a bike should and does it in comfort.....the only thing i would have changed is those funky stock bars and maybe added a helmet lock.......

He has never messed with the suspension settings...have you...the whole point of having modern suspension is to get it suited to the rider.....

Nice bike....

When we go to starbucks for a coffee,or park together any where.....folks ignore his bike and come and talk for 5 minutes about my 900...then when we leave he pulls me at every stop sign with no real effort...and little yrs exp...go figure
