Kawasaki Dealers
09 Sep 2010 19:28
I've been working on my 82 GPz750 for about 2 months. I have to say, getting parts from Kawasaki dealers sucks. It's 2010 and it takes over a week to get parts? I have a 76 John Deere tractor and anytime I need parts, I can get them in 2 days or less. Very frustrating....

welcome to my world i have been living it for over 20 years your lucky to get parts at all from the oe shops alot of bikes are considered obsolete after 6-10 years or less in some cases.you have picked a good model to work on kawi parts for the kz's at least are still mostly available you will just have to plan in advance better. i have waited for over 6 months sometimes for parts on cetain brands. tough to turn over alot of service work when you have to wait so long.

Mfolks,
Thanks for the list!
Z1 has been great. I just purchased airbox holders from them yesterday and received a shipping e-mail from them same day.

Just in case you aren't aware, Z1Enterprises.com sells genuine Kaw parts that are available. But often times you have to submit a parts request for oem stuff, since they don't list everything on their site. If I need a Kawasaki part, I check to see if it's listed as Active at Kawasaki.com, then ask at Z1 to see if they can get it.....

I am a manager in a dealer and can tell you that I dont even buy my parts here! The resources you'll find from these guys and the internet are not only going to be faster but less expensive. Not only that but (not to knock my parts guys) the chances of it being the right part is 50\50. The guys behind my counter know nothing about 30yrs bikes. So take your chance with your local dealer if you want but specialty shops like Z1E or I use grandpa's cycle who do nothing but kz's out of theyre shop and am never disappointed.

Yes, dealers have a huge mark up but I have been fortunate where I print out what I could pay elsewhere (Z1, wbe KZ sites etc...) and my local shop will give it to me for the same price minus the shipping...
They order as well so pending the situation where I want them today versus a couple of days, works out fine....
Same time, for additional $$$$, any web distributor will get them out for next day delivery, all up to us as buyers...
Unfortunately, very little dealerships/shops carry old inventory. Only places catering to KZ's such as Z1, APE, Schnitz, American Classix etc... stock parts...
And yes, there are times when even Jeff is out of stock... Let's face it, there's only so many distributors out there for 30 year old KZ's...
Thanks the KZ gods for these few or we'd all be shitty up!

At the end of the day, you're right in that I should be happy I'm still able to get parts for a 30+ year old bike.
