I was trying for an upgrade if I could. Have had a lot of issues with fuses in the past on my other tube fuse boxes and wanted to get something better www.cwswiring.com/Shop.htmlr .
I just have to figure out what the differences are between the 78 fuse box and the 80 fuse box so that I may order the right part.
I had a get off Last Friday and have been so sore that I haven't even thought about this until today. Thanks for being on the lookout. I am going to take my fusebox off right now, take a picture of it and we can compare notes. lol If the box is the same as the 80 LTD then I have one in good shape. At any rate, I will post up shortly.

This obviously has been worked on with the white wire not original. It's melted and I had to pry the connections apart for one of the wires because it was baked on.

Well, I have no idea what the actual serial number of this bike is. I thought I could find it engraved on steering head. The only engraved thing was Made In Japan. Nice, I know the engine is not original to the bike, I am thinking that the frame is an 80 because of the reinforced frame rails on the front. I don't know for sure if 78 had that yet or not but that is it as far as I can tell. Bike was pieced together, may have been crashed and rebuilt, who knows at this point. I am just happy to have a z1r and for now this will do.
I think that by judging from the fuse box on ebay and this one it very well may be an 80 and as such I assume that the 80 LTD would be the same connections. I will attempt to find my old one and see if indeed they are the same or not. Thanks for all of your help.

Well, it's not the 78 Z1r fuse box. The box is exactly the same as my LTD1000 so, end of mystery. At least now I know if I need to order what to get.

Leon, I think we may have already had that discussion right? I recall taking about improvements from 78 to 80 included frame rails and you said no that 78 had them too. So I will never know for sure what I have. Probably 80 since front end is 80. Oh well, I give up. At least I.know fuse box is from 80 that is compatible with ltd1000.

I was doing the brakes the other day and found that my bike has the same calipers and fusebox as 1980 LTD. I have looked at different sites and couldn't find the matter cylinder cap rubber seal. Is there some website you guys know about our do I have to use a different rubber seal and make it work?

It looks like all of the 1980 KZ1000s had the same front calipers (Z1-R, LTD, MkII, etc).

By "master cylinder cap", I assume you're talking about the rubber diaphragm that goes in the top of the front master cylinder reservoir? If so, this part does not exist. Other than the one that sold about a month ago on Ebay, I've never seen one for sale anywhere.

I'm working on a solution that involves using a different reservoir from a modern Suzuki, but I haven't actually finished it yet... Here is my last comment on this:

Did you get the link I posted earlier about the reservoir gasket for the master cylinder?

Cool. Thanks for the info! Where are you located (was that bike sold in the US?) and what is the manufacture date shown on the head tube sticker?

I actually just noticed a bike on Ebay with a high number VIN. This one is 14882.
