NEVER STOP RIDING in Sunny California.

One of the bennies of living here close to the beaches in a state whose entire left side is beachfront property.

THEN AGAIN HELL YA CANT BARELY AFFORD TA LIVE HERE!

Thats the bad thing about a good thing. Everybody wants that 'good thing' then house prices get outta hand, the average price is over $500,000 again in Silicon Valley for a 3b/2ba house worth mebbe $50,000 in the part of the midwest I'm from.

Does weather like today, sunny near 70 at 3pm make a $50,000 house seem worth $500,000 NO IT DONT.

However I will admit not missing engine block heaters for the car, having to start the car 5-10 minutes before leaving for work in the morning to let it 'warm up', 'black ice,' having a big set of 'winter clothes,' salt on the roads and rusty vehicles, 20, 30, 40 below zero with wind chill, NOT BEING ABLE TO RIDE... and whatnot. 2 wheels on icy midwest roads = no way dude.

Just wish California was cheaper, got a lot cheaper for awhile there, now it comin back......

Kinda cool though making the run to the coast over the twisty mountain roads all year round........B)

When winter hits, I drive south to sunny Florida. I wrench and ride other peoples bikes till my frinds send pics without snow. Then its safe to come back!

Usually 2-3 months or so is good enough...

Cheers!

Nice life, you can't beat FL weather in the winter, sounds just about perfect. I used to live in Miami, I get upset every time I see the weatherman put up the temps across the country, it'll be 55 to 60 in Silicon Valley in Jan/Feb and 80 FRIGGIN DEGREES in South Florida, if I'm able to find it, I fetch my sledge hammer from the mess around me and then smash and re-injure my big toe, THAT'LL TEACH MY DUMB*SS fer movin' to Silicon Valley....:S

Here in Vancouver we get the odd nice day throughout the year. Our provincial government is the exclusive source for compulsory liability insurance. They sell a collector plate product. That means that if your bike is all original (there are some exceptions allowed) the cost for one million $ of coverage is only about $200. So I'll keep my 76 kz900 insured all year and maybe get to ride it a few times during the winter.

I do the same, $157 this year for license and insurance. I live in a semi arid climate and have collector plate on the bike and ride it all year, weather and road conditions permitting. I try to ride it at least monthly.

I'm kind of in a "reverse" situation. After a two year plus hiatus due to some nasty medical issues, I should finally be well enough to ride in a month or so. Unfortunately, the weather won't cooperate, so the Z will remain in storage, which is where it has been for the last two years.

Well I must be lucky to be in Florida. The temp is 81F at 2:30 pm and is a beautiful day without the humidity. The summer is when it sucks to ride here. The winter is just right for riding.

I regreted winterizing the 750 last year 'cause most of January-March last year here in CO there were 2-3 good riding days a month. Now it's in the garage ready to go next to my 900 that's in parts, but hopefully will be up for Spring!

Next big snow storm though I'll take down the 750 for an oil change and change out the clutch plates. Probably lube cables and flush brake fluid while I'm at it so I'm ready to go!

I don't see any reason to put anything away for the Winter. I put my good ones away just to keep them clean, nothing to do with Winter. The ones I'm going to ride, the 77 KZ650 and the 2008 Goldwing are going to be ridden all Winter unless snow is in the forecast. I've already ridden to work on the KZ650 at 12 degrees F, and got nearly 400 miles on the goldwing over thanksgiving weekend. Why put them away?

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
