Z1 Classic Stolen!!!! I was Lucky! was created by Tommotbird
My Z1 Classic was stolen from outside my flat last Thursday night. I had parked it without putting on the chain wheel lock- I had been visiting my grandson, got home late, had dinner and literally forgot about the bike.
Woke up on Friday & no bike!!!
Got a call from Police Traffic Dept as I was in my local police station reporting the theft to say that they had recovered the bike about 6 miles away.
Couldn't collect it until today as it was being examined by forensics but I was expecting the worst.
Preliminary examination shows no external damage at all, havent tried to start it yet though. Ignition lights up OK although brake warning light is flashing.
Got to say that the police guys that recovered the bike treated it with real respect, parked it nicely undercover in their depot. They usually leave them outside but as their report said "they had picked up a an old Kwak Z400".
At least one guy knew it was no piece of shit.
I will try to start it tomorrow but I count myself very very lucky!!!
I would love to smack the guy that stole it but at least it wasn't trashed.
Any of you guys had a bike stolen?

wow, your lucky you got it back and hopefully unharmed. Everybody gets there own one day, if you do something bad it comes back and bite's you 100 times harder. I almost had my kz 650 stolen the other night, i stopped at the gas station to grab a gatorade after work. I got off the bike took off my helmet and put it on the tank, totally forgot to take the key out of the ignition. Next thing i see is a guy in his 20's hop on my bike and flip the kickstand up.....................im thinking shit.........well he didnt realize that i had taken the electric start out completley and it is only a kick start. I ran out yelling at him, i said dude WTF are you doing on my bike........he tell's me that it was in his way and that he needed to move it so his buddy could get his car through. Now mind you it was pulled all the way over to the curb. I said really? Did yoiu need to turn the key on for that???? He didnt say anything, put the kickstand down, hopped off the bike got in his buddy's car and peeled out.

Never had a bike stolen, but back when I lived in England, I did have a car stolen!
It was a 1964 MGB in British Racing Green (of course) that was in excellent shape (I loved it). Anyhow, my job at the time involved a lot of late night work - so I go home about 2:00am and parked the car in the street. The next morning, my mum calls me and says "where is your car?" I dash out to - no car! Call the police who are very polite, but not excessively helpful. Then about 30 minutes later, one of my mum's workmates knocks on the door and says "do you own a green MGB - 'cause it's parked two streets over!"
I call the police back - they come and pick me up, take me to the car and have me drive it to the station - so they can do fingerprints, etc. They give me a ride home.
Turns out I was lucky too - the car was VERY low on petrol, and it turns out there was a car theft operation going on where they would nick valuable, or collector, cars, drive them to London (we lived close to the M1) and part them out. It being low on fuel saved it!
In retrospect, the cops were helpful and polite - and returned the car to me a couple of hours later. I really can't complain.

Lost a CB125 used for short trips to my workshop in England. I parked it outside my friends place for a couple of hours and it just disappeared. We never did find any trace of it.
