There are a handful of Kaw's that are considered highly collectible- Z1's, H2's, H2R's, very early KZ1000's, Z1R's and ELR's and perhaps a handful of others. KZ900ltd's are simply not on the desirable list, no matter how low the production numbers or mileage. Collectors know what they want. They want a piece of history. KZ900ltd's did not make a mark on history.
Let's sell the thing and see what it fetches.

By all means. But I believe you are wrong about the 76 LTD. It is indeed part of history as it ushered in the custom bike(Custom, Special, Cruiser, LTD, L). In fact I have right here before me a publication by Motorcyclist called Great Bikes of the 70s that has a buy pricing guide and it lists the 76 LTD as $1500 and the Z1 as $1000-1200. Pub 1981. Now, I will by no means say a 76 900 in the same shape as a Z1 is worth more or as much but it is nonetheless a historic bike. It has many firsts that were not offered on the Z1 but became standard on future bikes. So it's mark on history is as secure as it's pedigree. If you wish to exclude cruisers and tourers from the desirable or historic discussion you miss a very large part of motorcycling.

I sold my 78KZ1000 Ltd for 3200.00 to a guy with too much money 12,000 miles on it. Theres one born evey day.I'm a lucky guy I guess...The kz900 ltd models are not near as collectible as the 73 Z-1's. Even though it is rare to have such an unmolested bike, it really isn't worth that much because it's not a super collectible model and year. I'd say about $3-4,000 sounds right. Nowhere near $8-15,000, which would be accurate if it were an early z-1.
