I gave a friend in Texas two Ninja bikes to sell to help him buy gas to visit over Christmas.

One was bought with the intent of building a electric bike.

There were a lot of pics in the picture thread here of electric bikes. Roy

they are so small that you'll look like you have a pair of wheels growing out of your ass when your riding it.

i am in the planning stages of an all electric Ninja. with the set up i will be using i hope to get a range of 45 miles on a single charge and a top speed of 55-60mph. of course i can adjust it for a longer range at a lower speed or higher speed at a lower range (i only have a 3 mile round trip for work)but one of the goals for my project, is that from the outside, i want it to look completely stock. we'll see how that goes, haha

The guys says: "I really am not a motorcycle guy at all. This is my first motorcycle. I have ridden scooters before."

Wow, that's a big surprise

This thing can only go 7.5 miles before you must turn around and head home and has a top speed of 40 mph?? Why doesn't he just buy a skateboard or inline skates? He'd still have enough left over from the $2,000 he blew on this contraption to buy a real bike. Ed

I have seen, one or two electric powered ninja's on the net.
Can't remember where, maybe I posted a photo.

I like the bikes that I have seen, when they use a real bottom end, with an electric motor on top. You will get more power with a transmission, then adding batteries for more power.

Battery type is important, recharge time is another issue.

I have only seen one or two good throttle set ups. In my mind, the throttle is a biggie! You need smooth control of the power. Throttle set ups are easier, if you use a computer, but who wants that crap.

Next year, when all the electric street bikes come out, things will really start to happen. Home tuners will go wild and we will see some real improvements happen.

Once again, the guy who invents a low RPM, high output, alternater will be rich. Everyone says it can't be done, BS!
You need to be able to charge while you ride or drive.

it doesn't need to be perpetual. just to be able to sustain the charge for a longer amount of time
