Hows Riding in the Rain ?

I live in Bandon Oregon so we get a good share of rain. I should be getting my endoresment in a few weeks. Thats about when the weather starts crying. Any good advice to riding in the rain would help me keep the shadow side of the tires down... Thanks. And How does the 1977 KZ650 DO as far as weight and ballance for this subject? I weight 250lbs and am 6' tall. I have brand new 712 Shinkos on front and rear. And the bikes all stock except seat and rear luggage rack. Were in this together.

If you are new to riding I would avoid the rain untill you develop some dry riding skills. Then take baby steps. You will get your fill of wet riding in time. When you get legal ride as often as possible to develop these critical skills. In the dry watch for sand and gravel in the corners, oil in the middle of the road etc. In the rain watch for "EVERYTHING" and ride with undivided attention, it is your life depending on this. Remember motorcycles are like electricity...... You don't have to be scared, but you damn well better respect it

my first long ride was from baltimore md to northeast tn 500 miles 1 hr into the ride it went from 80 and sunny to 70 and raining three hrs into it it was 55 and still raining i had no rain gear low on money the last 30 miles the sun came back out and got warm agian i'm not whining my jaws hurt from smiling it is one of my favorite memories
i was on a purple kz550 open face helmet one left handed glove put on my right hand
just take it easy and remember theres no such thing as a bad ride as long as you get there in one piece
