Thanks guys. The ride went great. 1116 miles today, 1079 on the official ride in 18hr 18min, so 60mph for 18hr average. Doesn't sound like much, but 85% 2 lane mountain roads full of morons. Why do people drive 30mph in a 55mph zone on a road that has no passing zones for miles is beyond me. 60 guys took off this morning at 2AM and I was second finisher so I'm happy I can still rack the miles after all these years. I had all of them passing me up at the start, but the secret is limited stops. 4 gas stops is all it took on the Goldwing.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

Glad you made it safe Ron. What's that wing have? About 7 gallons or so? What was your MPG for the trip then?

Wow....that's very cool.Congratulations on a successful mission. I once went from Benton Harbor, Michigan to Brockton, Massachusetts in one 24 hour stretch on my 77 Honda 750 with a buddy who was on a 75 Kaw 900...in the rain.It was just over 1000 miles. So we always said that we were members of the "Rusted" Iron Butt Association.

It helped a lot that it was all nice weather. I saw between 41 and 79 degree range. (goldwing has a thermometer to look at). 41 gets a little chilly, but the heated grips work great. My hands are no good anymore in the cold. It sprinkled lightly for probably 10 or 15 miles is all the rain seen. I'm not sure how many gallons capacity it has but on slower roads it will get between 45-50mpg, on 75-80mph stretches it gets 40-45 so good for at least 250 miles on a tank, then I took a 1 gallon spare gas with me just in case so no worry of running out of gas. I took the dehydration idea to heart and went all week with no alcohol and drank lots of water, then took 6 liters of water with me on the ride. Took 5 liters too much it turns out, but I felt good the entire ride and never got drowsy. Worked out to be a really nice ride.
