What most people don't know is that on that night there was FIVE TZ750's, and TWO Kawasaki H2r 750 triple powered bikes racing that night. The Kawasaki 750 triples were built and tuned by Erv Kanemoto. Some of you might have heard of him. He went on to help some young kid from Louisiana win a few races!!!
This was back in the days of open chambers, and pipes. All the harley fans were bit**ing about all the chain saws running with their beloved harleys!! Only King Kenny made it to the main. He failed to make the main in his heat race, so he had to run the last chance qualifier to make the main. Kenny was riding the haybales halfway through the main. The two leading harley riders were playing hand tag on the straights on the last few laps, and had no idea the king was coming!!! The King was 20 or so yards behind those two going on to the back straight on the last lap. The drive Kenny got going into turn 3 was unbelievable!!!!
We were sitting across from the King's pit area which was about 30 yards from the finish line. When he went by us, he had just taken second, and was flying. Then everybody stood up, and we could not see finish line. But when Kel Carruthers jumped off the roof of their motorhome and started to run toward victory lane with his hands in the air, we knew the King did!!
BEST MOTORCYCLE RACE I EVER SAW IN MY LIFE!!!!
1972 H2 750 Cafe Racer built in 1974.
1976 KH400 Production Road Racer.
1979 Kz1000 MK. II Old AMA/WERA Superbike.
1986 RG500G 2 stroke terror.
1986 GSXR750RG The one with the clutch that rattles!
Up in the hills near Prescott, Az.

That was unreal! Totally amazing. I can't believe I hadn't heard about Kenny riding that again in 2009...I would have watched that for sure. I had only read about the TZ750....never heard one. Just amazing...... :woohoo:

I have a 1980 Kawasaki KZ750 Ltd. I bought new. I recently managed to get it out of my garage after 28 years and put it on the road again (2010). I feel like a kid all over again. Since I have acquired 3 78 KZ1000 Ltd, 1 1981 KZ1000 Ltd, and another 1980 KZ750 Ltd. Love the LTD's.
