Racer 54, Its a OKC bike, 1075 and ZX14 parts. Gloss black now and very nice and clean. S&S carb,MSD ignition........... and its fast.

What is that cover in side of tank for?
1980 LTD (changed over the years), 1979 LTD (being rebuilt), 1977 KZ turbo and various KZ's in various states of build. KLX110

Thats where they would mount the dry break fuel filler. Depending on the circuit, they fill from either side, so you have a cover on one side, and the dry break fitting on the side you will be filling from. Same way they fill Indy Cars.

So the fuel canister is pressurized to fill then?

Its a gravity fed system. On the highest point of the tank you plug in your vent/catch tank.
When you see nothing but fuel come up your vent/catch tank hose, your tank is full and you disconnect the fuel hose!!!

It only takes about 3 to 5 seconds to fill a motorcycle tank!!!

Here are some old photos of how they do it.

You want the fuel tank as high as the rules will let you have it. Penske back in the Trans Am days built a 25 foot tall rig!!!


See the vent hose in top of tank, and fuel hose on lower part of tank.


Same thing here but on a smaller scale!!!

That previous Lawson is my friend's bike, signed by Eddie himself! That thing rides awesome with a 1175 kit. Bike now has lights and fairing and draws a crowd! Have to trade the Z1A to ride it though.
