Just finished the MSF rider course was created by burkmanofgod
My wife and kids pitched in and bought me this class for my birthday and am I ever glad they did. I was sure I could have figured out how to ride on my own but now I am so glad I had the opportunity to take this class. I not only learned all the skills needed to ride and get licenced but I now have confidence that I would have lacked just trying to learn on my own. I would definitely suggest these classes to people. I had a lot of fun learning and hated that they were over and my bike here at home is still in pieces. But it won't be long now just waiting for parts to get here and we should be running soon. I go tomarrow to get my licence. Everyone wish me luck.

Good luck. Took me 3 tries to pass the license course....though I had no front brakes to do the two stop tests...LOL!

Congratulations on passing the class. It is a good introduction to riding and some of the basics. Once you get out on your own bike, take the time to keep learning and stay safe.

When I first started riding (MD circa 1965) there were no such MSF courses, all you needed was a car driver's license to ride a bike, and there were no helmet laws. I learned the basics the old fashioned way - "target fixation" by hitting the rear of a dump truck dead center, wet paint stripes are slippery by hitting a Buick, and "countersteering" by hitting a tree. (I know guys, that explains a lot about me, but at least I wore a helmet most of the time.) Anyway, I suspect taking a class on how to ride safely is a lot less painful and a lot more fun. Congrats and ride safely. Ed

Congratulations burkmanofgod on passing the MSF course! I'm sure that you put the lessons to GOOD use as soon as you hit the road.

I just got back from Portland, OR. where I spent the weekend completing the Team Oregon Instructor Preparation Course.

They spent the weekend drowning us in information while the Portland skies intermittently spit snow on us each day.

Sorry for the hijack.

Congrats, Burk.

Your family cares a lot about you to pony up the cash. That's fantastic. I took it four years ago even though I already had the M endorsement. I learned a lot that I hadn't learned years ago.

Enjoy the ride.

Nates vintage bike axiom: Riding is the reward for time spent wrenching.
Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

Thanks everyone, I took the test today and passed on first try. I actually had fun and didn't want to stop. I know it will be even better on my own bike which will be running soon I hope. (waiting on parts to arrive :( )

when i started riding i learnt the hard way but even if there had been course's around then i doubt if my ego at the time would let me take one anyway but now if i had to do it all over again i would definitly take one it would have saved me lots of scar tissue and broken bones, congrats at taking the course the smartest thing you could do.
