Quader, where did you find that seat? I'd love something a little lower profile. At 5'8" I don't get as firm a footing as I'd like.
Try this:
No, don't pull your shirt up in an attempt to show the chicks your 'keg'...the seat man, do the seat!
PS> McDroid, note the mutant V&H/Kerker combo :X ... it'll be amongst the first things to be "fixed".

Ah, ok. When I had the cover off, it seemed like Mr. Actuator was moving properly, three balls and all. Prior to all this fiasco, things were great - clutch engagement was smooth and positive, proper amount of free play at the lever, clutch adjustment was set per the manual's instructions (following the supplemental guide in the back for my model).
Nuther question. While I had the sprocket cover off, I pulled the piston/rod/thingy(official term) out. Part 13116A in the picture. Would that make the little ball bearing at the end fall out of place? Tomorrow, when I actually have some time, I'll take the sprocket cover off again and make sure all is well with the actuator now that I think I understand things a bit better.
Thanks for the help!

Well, I made the mistake of poking around this forum and have come across some pretty amazing restorations and custom builds. It's inspiring. Seems parts for this girl are expensive and hard to find so I'll have to take that in to account. But I think I'll be hanging around in the mean time.
On a totally off topic side note, my thread viewing preferences seem to have changed. I'm struck on the view where I see only one post at a time and then a whole bunch of nested links to the replies and parent messages. How do I get back to where I each post in sequence?

Never mind! I found it

Ha-ha!
This poor guy...look at him...now he's one of us!
Hey, but on a serious note, parts for these bikes are relatively inexpensive. If you must have bone stock body-parts, that might be expensive, but the rest of it is modify-able, or readily available. The jet-kit that I just got in the mail covers 82 through 'whatever' (like '85 or something); so there are a lot of KZ cross-over parts that work.
Drive on man, you've found KZ-Nirvana.

Ok, so, next question. Where do I find these relatively inexpensive parts? I've seen some sites (like cyclepartsnation, where I found the diagram) but I'm wondering what years/models have interchangeable parts that can be used with my babe.

Jon...if you have not yet explored
www.kawasaki.com
, do so. You can get cross-listed models/years for all parts for your bike...this does not mean that the parts are still available from Mother Kaw, but rather you can use this info to shop more confidently on eBay (which is where most of us shop for non-maintenance parts). The Kawasaki site will also tell you if the parts are still available...at that point, you contact a third-party vendor (e.g.
www.Z1Enterprises.com
) and order the part (it will be generally cheaper than from Kawasaki).

Found the answer to my clutch issue. The nut #92015 that holds the whole assembly together had nearly back itself all the way off! Easy fix, but that could have been disastrous.

Congrats. Now enjoy your '750. From the pics it's a beauty.

Thanks! I think she's a looker myself.
Couple questions as I'm putting the clutch back together.
The old gasket came off and was stuck like crazy to both sides. I did the best I could with a straight edge razor to get the pieces off and smoothed it out with the abrasive side of a sponge and some Goo Gone. There are still trace amounts left but it "feels" smooth to the touch. Am i going to be able to get a good seal without getting every last little bit off? Should I prep the seal in any way? Maybe coat both sides with a little oil first? Maybe some silicone gasket sealant?
Next, what should I do to make sure this nut doesn't back itself off again? Can I do anything besides make sure it's properly torqued? Could I replace the washer underneath with some sort of lock washer? Why isn't there some way of locking this nut down in the first place?
Sorry, lots of questions. Still getting to know this thing.

I used Permatex Black on gaskets. It's non-hardening allowing rentry when needed. RTV seals nicely, but it takes a large wedge and a ten pound sledge hammer to get things apart again.
