what kaws have parts?

Hey guys! I have a 78 kz650 that I'm rebuilding and I'm really frustrated with not being able to find parts for the engine. Rings are alomst imposible to find, Unless you use a wiesco kit for almost $600.

My question is ... What models of Kawasaki motorcycles still have parts avalible. I love the KZ line any of the inline air cooled fours are great. I was thinking about a kz1000 police bike. I'll bet there are millions of engine parts around for thoes.

What bikes do you guys think fall into this catagory?

650s,750s,900s,1000s are pretty plentifull,although i tend to lean towards 900-1000 end of scale!

the 900 and 1000,are the small block chev of the motorcycle world check out the ape web site[kz zone in particular], schnitz racing web site, pingel racing and many others that are around you will be pleasently suprised. where have you looked for stock rings and other 650 parts.

Just keep an eye out on ebay for a while, you'll find them

Parts (NOS, OEM, and used) are readily available for the Z1 family (although the NOS supply does seem to be dwindling lately)...in fact, there is a small industry devoted to replica parts for the Z1 line. Then there is the KZ900 and KZ1000 (1015) line...still readily available...same with the later J motored bikes. Supplies appear to be dwindling with the 550/650/750 and few folks are making aftermarket replacements for the smaller Z bikes. There appears to be plenty of used parts on eBay for the 750 (twin) and 400/440 bikes.

I've looked high and low. I've scowerd the internet. I've checked very recomended place that I can find. no one seems to have rings for the kz650. I needed a .20 thousands over set and I only found one place that had them... so I called and, oh wait they didn't have them! I check ebay almost every day looking for kz650 rings sometimes a stock set will come up but I need .20 so they don't do me any good.

I thought the 900 and 1000 would be pretty common because of the million or so police bikes that were sold over the past 30 years. So maybe I'll look into getting a kz1000 police agian (I owned one a few years back, it was a great bike).

If anyone has a resource for kz650 rings please let me know.

You can also go the Kawasaki website and click the parts diagram. Then find your part and click the yellow question mark and that will tell you all other models that share that same part.

i wonder how much of that stuff is avialble and if the pricing is current.

I have ordered tons for my 550GPZ and most everything I order comes.
Only once have they not been able to get something I wanted and that was listed as available. That is out of 30 or so different parts I have ordered.
They are not the fastest at shipping. It usually takes about 15 days to get my order.
