Wow, lot of history here. Unfortunately, due to family pressure, I wasn't able to start this "habit" until a couple of years ago. Below is my 1979 KZ400 Ltd that I got a couple of years ago. Learned alot about fixing bikes with that one (thanks to alot of help from everyone here  ) Graduated to a KZ750 last year....next year, who knows?

Not my picture, but my first bike was a Yamaha GT80. Fun little scooter.

The very first bike I owned was a brand spanking new 1965 Honda Benly (NOT Bentley, as called by many) 150 (CA95 in Honda-speak). Only the shiny black model with the wide whitey tires would do for me. A buddy had bought one about 3 months before I bought mine. When I saw his for the first time it looked like a Harley dresser when compared with the Honda 50 Cubs and Honda Sport 65's everyone else was riding. It was HUGE....looking.
That sucker went like stink and handled pretty well considering the way I rode it. I pulled the stock mufflers off it and used my mom's Electrolux vacuum cleaner wands on it for straight pipes. They were stainless and were a perfect fit onto the ends of the Honda headers. Two hose clamps onto the rear footpeg brackets to hold the pipes and away I went. What a sound out of that little sucker....especially at 2 AM coming home from a night out at a bush party!!! I soon learned the art of short shifting and coasting into the driveway at home.
She took everything I could throw at her for 2 years and never missed a beat.....with mom and me sharing the vacuum cleaner pipes. Eventually I had a hankering for more power/displacement so sold the little sweetheart to a buddy and bought a 1967 Honda 305 Dream, again black with the wide whiteys.....but it wasn't even close to the 150 in performance and/or handling. It got traded in on a 1970 Honda CB750K0 Four....but those are other stories for other times.
I do have a couple of pics of me on the Benly but darned if I can find them.:(

I have had several dirtbikes through the years but my first real street bike was a 1979 Yamaha XS650. I bought it in 1984 at 18 years old and i ran the wheel off of it. I had slash cut straight pipes on and man did it sound good for a twin motor. I used to run down the road at night and hit the kill switch and then turn it back on and it would shoot a flame out the pipes. I ended up breaking a valve from doing that at least i think that's what did it. I had a parts bike so i was able to just swap the head. I miss that bike had a lot of fun on it.

Went through a boatload of heavily tuned mopeds in my teens (over here you can't ride a motorcycle until you're 18) but my first (legal) motorcycle and the first bike I restored was a 1975 Yamaha RD350. Not a lot of torque, but a fun little bike if you could keep the revs up. No pics of mine since this was before they invented digital and paper copies are long gone, but it looked a lot like this, just not nearly as nice.

My first bike was my current bike. I'm 23, got this off my uncle when I was 17, I wish I had taken pics back then. She was a bone stock 650B1, red. It had been sitting for about ten years. She has taught me a lot about being a mechanic, and also a love of riding.

77KZ400 (No pics):( but I think you guys might have heard of it.
The PO said it was a former race bike. I bought it when I was 16 for $200. Yes, $200 was worth more in 1987 but it still looked very ruff but ran like a beast. I think it may have had some strange gearing because the front wheel would come up very easy.:woohoo: That happened one time to many. So my folks bought me a car, if agreed to get rid of it.
One day I will find another and treat it better than I did that poor bike that had the unfortunate fate of falling into my hands:blush:

My first bike was a Kawasaki 90. I dont remember if it had
a model designation. This was back about 1975 and it was
already a few years old when I bought it.
I wish I had kept a photo.
The pic below is similar to what I had. The only difference
being that mine had a red & white two tone tank. It seemed quite
revolutionary at the time in that the oil went in the tank under
the RH side panel and mixed automatically with the gas. Most
other two strokes you had to buy a premix or add 2 stroke oil
to the gas tank. I did a lot of miles on it all in a cloud of
smoke  Broke 2 chains and sold it for more than I paid
for it. This was the bike that got me hooked :)

My first bike was a 74 OHC400. I started riding it in 1981 after getting it off my Dad. He bought it new in 74 in Winnipeg. It ran great for me till 87 when the demands of a new career and girlfriend (now wife) prompted me to put it away. 18 years later, (and $1.30/L fuel) got me thinking about riding again so out it came from the garage at my parents place...

And now, since I've moved up to my newer bike (76 KZ900 lol) I'm restoring it for generation # 3, my daughter :D
