The bike's in pretty nice shape but it's obviously been detailed. Check out the rusted fasteners, it's hardly a museum piece.
It'd still waste any goldwing, hands down.

These bikes were only made for a couple of years to compete with Honda's CBX.
You'd think they'd do some research
Or maybe they consider 1981-1988 a "couple years".
I think they were built to compete with the Gold Wings, not the CBX.

Not sure why you said that. I thought Craig did do fairings for Kawasaki. I think I have even seen a badge that says "Vetter for Kawasaki" "Kawasaki by Vetter" or something like that. Is it that the fairing wasn't made at the Kaw factory just installed there? Just curious...

it did'nt take long and we were lineing them up for a 75$ run which was actually alot of $$ back then,i jumped him out of the hole by about two lengths and was runnin away from him so i thought, by about an 1/8 he now was beatin me by about a length+ the next thing i knew i was gettin hit in the face shield with what i thought was rain and watching him/his bike swerve allover the street and finally he side swiped a parked car! i blew past him and circled back to find out one of the oil feed lines to his turbo blew and sprayed oil allover his rear tire and me lol,i knew he would have beaten me had the oil not got allover his tire but i still took the 75buks,if i could do it allover i would not have taken the 75$,well thats my kz1300 story i never ran into him again "very happy" or any other kz1300,i think they are real kool bikes when stripped down.

About Vetter fairings: Vetter Corporation made Windjammer and Vindicator fairings. In addition, the company made fairings for Kawasaki which were essentially Vindicator fairings. All these fairings accept the same windshield, the same lowers and will fit on any Vetter hardware. All Windjammer/ Vindicator/ Kawasaki fairings were the essentially same... only the hardware was different for different bikes
www.craigvetter.com/pages/Vetter_Fairing...ability_of_part.html
If you are familiar with the real Vetter fairings, go to the parts diagrams at kawasaki.com and look under 1980 1290cc and find the KZ1300B2, then go look at the fairing that is pictured there. It looks nothing like a Vetter fairing, I think that was the first Kawasaki by Kawasaki fairing
Vetter wasn't the only one making barn door fairings, Pacifico and Luftmeister made them also.
Personally, I think the 1980 KZ1300B2 fairing is much better looking than the Vetter fairings
By the way, since there is a 1980 KZ1300B2, why doesn't Kawasaki.com list a KZ1300B1 ???
I believe the saddlebags are Vetter, but obviously not the fairing, and in further support of my argument I present KZ1300.com
