Thanks for all the great comments, guys. Tomorrow evening after work I'm going to go pick it up. I dropped my MC endorsement several years ago, so I'll have to take care of that before I get too far from home.:) I really don't want to start out getting a ticket right away.

Yeah, rstnick, the more upright riding position is what was the main requirement as I was checking the new bikes out -- peg-under and street bars. I'm not a racer, but I know it's nice to have some extra reserve power for when you might need it.

Ron, I'm with you all the way on styling and everything else. For 2009 Suzuki is coming out with a TU250, I think it is. If they had plans to come out with something like that in a 650 or 750, I might have waited. This was the closest thing I could find to my liking, obviously.

I can work on stuff and am a decent parts changer, but I've concluded that I'd really like to just jump on a bike and take off. I rolled all of the maintenance program, road hazard for the tires and everything else I could into the plan so that, for the next five years all I'll have to worry about is a monthly payment plus insurance.

I'll certainly post some pictures as soon as I can, even beforehand knowing that it will pain so many of you to look at something other than a KZ. Believe me, it pained me to switch brands, but I was just being selfish, disloyal and practical(I hope).

Since I'm already 58 this will probably be the last new bike I ever consider. Don't know how long my better half will put up with the KZ hanging around, but I'll make it last as long as I can.;)

Just out of idle curiosity, how much is your annual insurance on that bike?

I bought my last new bike in 1974, so I don't have a clue what full coverage insurance costs now. I do remember one guy posting that it would cost him $3500 per year on a new ZZR1200 in Philadelphia, and I think he was in his fifties.

Costs me $100 a year for liability insurance on my 750 twin.

KZErider,
Hey man, just enjoy your life! If a motorcycle helps, you make the call...I think the thing you'll notice is that the 'core' of personalities in this particular group are more concerned about you instead of the brand.
...that being said, we're still going to talk mad-trash on you as soon as you go all blue-and-white on us!:woohoo:

I'm jealous...I'd like a new ride, too!

Happy trails!

Wow, that's high! My ZZR1200 is about $460/yr for full coverage through Progressive. And I thought our rates were a bit above average due the N. GA mountains.

Trailered it home just fine. It was just about dark-thirty when I got home, but I couldn't resist and threw on the helmet and took it for a little 4 mi. spin. I think I'm gonna like it!:)

Took a couple of pics and will post them tomorrow.

Steell, to answer your question, my total comp ins. is $1030 a year. The gal at the dealership thinks I can get a better rate so I might shop around and see what I get. The same agent(my agent) told me last year that for the 750E2 it would have been $50 or for a year.

Shouldda bought a Kaw!

My full coverage rate on my 2006 Meanstreak is less than $400.00!

Course insurance folks typically come out of the shallow end of the gene pool.

Isn't your bike from the sport bike genre?

Get this, my Streak is a Vulcan which is considered a cruiser despite the fact that it comes stock with 17" tires, sticky rubber, four piston front brakes and inverted forks. OK it has forward controls but I'll tell you it carves!

Shouldda bought a Kaw.:woohoo:

Seriously, Enjoy your new ride and don't be a stranger!
