Good for you young man... B)

I know all us old timers fully support education, it's the only way any longer... Study hard and finish at the top of your class, all joking aside, this is a must.

Hopefully they'll also include a technical writing class. I see this everyday in e-mails and memo's where the format, punctuation and grammar is horrendous. And this was written by business professionals with bachelor and in some case's master degrees. Seriously, I've tried to read e-mails that were just rambling thoughts and made absolutely no sense what so ever.

When I receive such e-mails, I just delete them. I won't waste my time with them.

BTW.... Hurry up and graduate so you can educate us on how to fix these old girls up! ;)

Way to go!

Thank's quader, and OMR. I just got off the phone with one of the administrator's there and he was really helpfull and down to earth. He asked me if i had any motorcycle experiance, i told im i have 2 vintage kz's, and a 74 z1. He thought that was the coolest thing in the world. He said there are people that come into the program without any knowlege, and don't want to learn. Im going down in december to check the campus out and get a tour. He wanted me to ride the z1 down, but that would be to darn cold, plus she's getting a redo over the winter. He said i'll probally be starting in April or May of 2009.

I blame the keyboard, ever since I started using one I cant seem to spell or place punctuation correctly....its hard to clarify but if I write with a pencil I am confident that my spelling will be correct, not so with the keyboard

OMR, you're spot-on. The way a business professional can set themselves apart in today's world is with their communications skills. The informal nature of email and especially texting has led many to believe that sentence structure, punctuation and paragraphs are quaint relics of a distant past. No, those are the key elements of effective communication between humans using this wacky language called English. Without those elements the words become just so much mush.

O4E, if MMI doesn't provide technical writing courses, seek out a community college and take them there. Yes, it's tedious, but it pays great dividends.

BTW, congrats on your opportunity. Study hard and work hard and the world will be your oyster even in down economic times. Some of the greatest fortunes were started during an economic downturn. "Do something you love and you'll never work a day in your life!"

I looked into it about 5 years ago and the tuition was 12K back then. I had to pay support so it kinda slowed me down on what I want to do. But now my brother is moving to Orlando so housing is taken care of now I just need a job and 12K. It is a heavy duty course 5 hours a day 5 days a week for about a year and a half depending on what you want to take. But I think it's worth it if you open your own shop. (They have classes for that also)

one of my original instructors at the college i now teach motorcycle mechanics at, last time i heard he was teaching at m.m.i pheonix . he was a good instructor here, if he is an example of the insructors that they have on staff down there you will end up with a fine education. just remeber one thing that course is just teaching you the basics you will spend a lifetime learning and one other thing you will never know it all the build new bikes every year . good luck with it and most of all have fun with it. when i went to school we still being taught points ignitions my how things have changed.

oldkaws4ever- sent you a PM.
Has anyone else gone to MMI in Phoenix or in Orlando? I'm thinking of going and would really like some input that someone isn't paid to give me. :)
