I dont know, this bike is for sale her in Norway, for a quite high price, 99000 NKR, thats almost 20000 Dollar.

And the seller claims that this is one of 200 ever made.
Thats all the add says...

He's right, there was 200 of them. They were a special model. Originally would have had a huge fairing and saddlebags. They are not worth $$$. A standard 78 KZ1000 will bring more money. $20,000 is about $18,000 too high.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.

This is what the bike looked like in 1978. I believe the 200 bikes were modified by Kawasaki USA and the touring accessories are all Vetter.

PS: I agree with Ron! $20,000 is GROSSLY overpriced and very wishful thinking on the present owners part. Especially for a bike that isn't even complete.

They are not worth much over here but over there they might find someone who sees the "only 200 made thing" and bites on it.

The big issue (at least in my small mind) is that despite that there were only 200 produced, the only thing that distinguishes them from the normal production 1978 Z1000A model is the presence of the fairings/saddlebags and the paint scheme...Kawasaki did not keep track of VINs (either motor/frame) for this small production run...so you can't order (and never could) replacement parts...it was a promotional stunt, not a production run of a unique motorcycle. Rarity does not equal value.

I knew that you guys here could light the case up! :cheer:

Well well, good luck for the seller, because the market is not that good anymore here, and he is claiming 60% more than a equal bike in good condition would cost around here.

That's probably the best description of what these bikes are that I've ever read. I feel bad for people that own them thinking they are worth big money and desireable.

I just called on an ad in the local paper for a 78 KZ1000, and it's one of these. The seller is asking $2000 and claims it is all original and in great shape. I'd only be buying it as an investment right now, since I already have a stock 78. Is it worth any extra at all being that it is so rare? I've seen these for sale on eBay and they never seem to go for more than a stock bike. Any chance they could go up in value? More than a stock bike?
Thanks
