Does your bike love you? was created by Mellvis
My bike loves me again! After all of theese years, I finally started to take care of it. I cleaned it up, changed the oil, adjusted the valves, fixed the intake that had a mounting screw coming loose from the intake runner on the head, and put in larger jets. I also cleaned, adjusted and set the points. I don't have a light, but he timming appears to be right, of really close. Now I'm getting the MOST out of my 29 smoothbores and new pod filters.

So, to sum up yesterdays fun, the 650 now has compression, good spark in the cylinders, and starts building power at about 7500 RPMs

I'm running 29's with 120 main jets, 15 pilots, large oval pods, and a Kerker (old) pipe.

I missed my performance more than I realized!

At the moment I do not think my bike loves me.
I sent 6 hours cleaning the carb, rebuilding the petcock, and cleaning it up. I go for a 2 minute ride to see how the carbs need to be tuned during which I drop the bike in some gravel because I'm an idiot. Now there is some ground problem and I'm blowing my main fuse near instantly upon key-turn.
I think my bike is angry about something.

I am convinced my 78 hates my guts. I never ran right for the four years before I tore it down. Now when I get it back together we'll see.

i think my '77 honestly wants my attention. It seemed like it was all pitiful and didn't run correctly. I fixed it and had a high speed wobble scare so i took her completely apart to put frame braces and some other treats for safety. i think she'll love me

She loves me! I think it's just cause I saved her from that pitiful garage, though. She was so nervous she was just wound all the way up as soon as you hit the kicker. Little tlc on carbs and timing, and she's all settled, though she does still try to wind out a little sometimes if it's been a while.

Mine seems rather ambivalent about the whole deal. It starts on the first kick and warms up quickly. I've been riding it more and a bit more conservatively and it is rewarding me with better fuel mileage. The Dyna S and a tune up last summer didn't hurt either.

I know exactly how you feel. Abbie's LTD 650 is having he same fuse problem. The guy I got it from had lais a piece of solder between the two metal ends of a blown fuse. Now THAT will solve the problem!!! He also used electrical tape to hold the half-round clips to the exhause pipes to make it easier to put them into the head.

My B1 must love me. It went screaming around the countryside for 170 miles yesterday.

Yes it does. It took it a few weeks to teach me how to properly rebuild its carbs, but after that it relaxed and let me take care of it. It smiled when I installed the repainted tank, and is looking forward to a Dyna ignition system in the near future!
