I always thought the Vetter Windjammer and Windjammer SS looked rather classy as did the Vetter sidebags and top truck. The rest of his designs don't inspire me too much.

For truly ugly the old Bates fairings and the HOG batwing fairings take the prize.

Murphys corollary: Wrenching is the result of time spent riding.

I know and have pictures of one right now- the 1972, in perfect survivor condition, 2 owner- the first owner being the current owners dad- the current owner owned the local kawi dealership in the 70s, and bought the bike for his dad. It is documented and correct.

Hey jeff- does that make four for ya?

It's not the KZ1000-A2A, that's the 78 1/2 KZ1000 (the only difference between it and the A2 model is carb/emission stuff). Kawasaki was wrestling with EPA and California emissions requirements. Usually the A2A is referred to as a California spec bike - although I do understand many of the bikes were sold outside of California.

Kawasaki did circulate models for display, although I've never heard of a KZ900 version - but I would imagine it's possible (although unlikely). There were preproduction Z1's used as display bikes in 1972 - these are very rare. I'm only aware of 3 surviving ones.

Oops Jeff- that last post was for you!:(

I think Squeeks did say he has talked to you in the past- I have seen your products on several of his bikes, and not just Kawis- I think he got some stuff for his cafe-d Yami SR 500 as well?

Not sure - the key to it is the VIN number and some of the components. The pre-production bikes have a ton of different parts on them. I know the folks you are talking about, but I've not seen pictures of the bike.

Greg W in the USA owns one, there's one in Germany, then a partial one in Norway.
