What you see there is the remains of the front right lanyard that would have held the optional Harley Parts Catcher (HPC). The HPC is a large net, not dissimilar to the type used by shrimp boats, that is suspended by lanyards and dragged behind Harleys to catch parts as they vibrate off the bike. Something like 25 or 26 states actually require this device on Harleys so the parts being jettisoned don't damage vehicles behind the bike. Apparently, in this case, the HPC itself vibrated off. You did the right thing by not bringing this to the rider's attention as this is considered poor etiquette in Harley circles. Ed

I knew a guy who was a waiter during the day, and put on Armani to hit the bars late at night.
...It worked.

Looks like you could back the bike up right under her with them Gump-like legs and be still my heart..... does she have the kung fu grip?? Could prolly straighten a bent rod!!!! Alas, I fear you'd be chasing the cats away from the bike for weeks after giving her a ride....

you should see me pull off the dumb fat plumber look with the flannel shirt, ripped pants and just enough plummers crack to keep the customers from bugging me while im trying to work!it aint easy to pull it off just right too much plummers crack and the concrete guys are trying to spackle ya or not enough then everybody thinks your a carpenter!then theres the whole wardroe change going from pants/flannel shirt to shorts and flannel shirt in the summer time!     :S :woohoo:Whatever works, I suppose. The only "look" I could pull off is that of a fat dumb and happy farmer. Anything other than that and I'm out of my league.
The whole fashion show amuses me.
Still recovering, some days are better than others.

What REALLY sucks about H-D accesories are the price. For instance- I need a 200-2007 soft tail swing arm bearing. They are listed at 37 bucks each! WTF?
Those were made in the USA at some time in the not-too-distant past. Even though they are probably asian bearings now, that part used to be made in the USA, making it worth more.
Seriously, there are aftermarket HD parts that are about 1/5 the cost and probably just as well made.
