Is there anything special about this year and size? I came across one this morning on craigslist. I'll try to post it.

Dave, I've got the same bike and it is to this day my favorite bike. I just rode it a little yesterday, started instantly and after a bit of warmup, ran great. It sat outside all winter and I think the last time it was started was in January sometime. As I was doing a little cleanup on it I was thinking that if I had to keep just one bike it would probably be this one. That said, the one you posted seems a wee bit expensive. I've seen really low mileage examples sell cheaper.

I was thinking it was over-priced as well, but around here, clean bikes are hard to come by. I had thought around $800 if the mileage was decent...
I showed it to the G/F this morning...answer was..where the hell are you gonna put that? Told her we could sell her van, and then plenty of room, she could ride the 77 650..did NOT go over well:(
Hard to haul around a 12 y/o with full hockey gear in the winter:laugh:

I'd pay $800 for it (if it was closer), then park it on my front lawn and sell it for $1500.
I have sold 6-8 bikes that way, the only advantage to living on a well traveled State Highway :)

The 81 KZ650SR is the easiest 650 to convert to a 750/810, everything bolts right on.
The lack of a kickstart gives it away.

Don't get me wrong, I doubt that if someone offered me $1000.00 for mine that I'd sell it. Reasons being I don't have much in it, it still only has 10,500 miles on it, it's so reliable it's crazy even though I should care for it better. I'm just saying that if you are patient you can find some really good deals on them. Steell is right if I seriously wanted to sell it, I don't think I'd have a hard time getting it to fetch $1500.00 this time of year and with the gas prices being what they are.

He is also right about the closer part. With gas being so high, coupled with the fact I have too many bikes as it is, I becoming hesitant to buy anymore bikes unless they are pretty close to home.

Back when gas was closer to $1.00 a gallon I bought bikes in PA, OH, KY, IL, and WI, bought one in NE but gas prices shot up before I could get it. Now it would have to be a super good deal for me to travel more than 100 miles to pick up a bike, and I haven't run across any super good deals :D

Same story with metal working machines, if it's not local I don't buy it :(
