Swap Meet

Went to my first swap meet yesterday about 70 miles from me. I was hoping to maybe upgrade a few things for the 650. Paid the $5 to get in, made a quick glance into the place, and saw nothing but HD!!! I thought, okay, maybe something might be available in metric bikes further back. I saw one blue dirty Suzuki standing in the corner with a 4-sale sign on it, and a customized Honda trike with a graveyard paint job. That was it!!! The rest was all H/D. So i walked up and down the aisles of totes of H/D parts, and thought to myself, no wonder there are so many parts for sale here...They need them!!!:laugh:
No offense intended for you H/Der's, but I had expected at least SOME metric parts for sale...
Needless to say, I didn't stay long, but I did buy a nice leather jacket for $150 ...wasn't a total loss:)

been to a few of those myself,,,,, you aint gonna find many parts other than H-D at them..... but if you do you will get one hell of a deal on them

I really hate to say it but even at Vintage days which has the biggest swap meet in the country I've been sort of disappointed.

Mid-Ohio is usually right after the member guest golf tournament at the club where I work so I normally have a pocket full of mad money from the tips I've recieved. The first year I went I bought 2 used gas tanks for a total of $25.00, a new helmet for $40 oh and a used countershaft sprocket from Roy that I have yet to use. Last year I bought a used center stand for $10.00 but then I got a smokin deal on a set of like new BS34 carbs for $20.00.

I guess I'd rather hang out with some of the folks I communicate with on this forum all year and have a good time, than tramp through the mud in the blazing sun trying to save a few bucks. Ebay is just too convienient and you can search for just what you want with just a few keystrokes.
