Sorry Dave I was out getting the rotor pulled off a 750 motor I have so that I can get the good (read cooperative) 650 I have charging again. I'm not ready to throw in the towel on this one yet, it's just that it seems ever since I brought it home, all it seems to do is piss me off. I guess I'm used to bikes that are a snap to get going again. Maybe by Vintage days I'll have had my fill of this one and be ready to unload it.B)

Bartending on the side is the best. Since I've been working at the club the longest I'm normally the go to guy when members have parties at their homes. Worked one last fall for about 7 hrs. and the guy handed me $300.00 cash. Plus I had a couple of the little hotties from the club come out and cocktail for a few hours and he paid them each a C-note. There's nothing better than getting paid in cash.;)

Unless they stop selling beer there isn't much chance that I'll be miserable at Vintage Days. I go there mainly to socialise anyway.:woohoo: It wouldn't be a bad idea to save all your new found wealth from all that chrome though, the herd has gotten out of control and I really should start thinking about selling a few of my bikes. I say that having just placed a bid on another one on Sunday and yet another one this morning.:side:

It's a disease, Andy! :D

I know it is Nate, and I'm not talking about the beer drinking either. They have 12 step programs to beat that. You may not have seen it since when you were posting I was editing. I just found another one that I bid on this morning. My wife better get her visa soon or there won't be any room left for her in the house.

Andy,
I'm having a hell of a time getting the rotor off of the 1000 motor. I thought about prying, but ruled that out quickly as I don't wanna snap the gear. I know there are pullers made for the job, just not sure which one to get.
any advice?

Dave they do make pullers for this and I'm sure Jeff at Z-1 sells them. I don't know off the top of my head if the big Z's use the same puller as the middleweights do. I've also read that tou can use the large chrome bolt that holds the steering stem on as a puller. I verified this this morning and on the 650/750 anyway the threads are the same. I've also read that a rear axle can be used to pull it as well.

Z1 Puller
I guess I am missing something. How does this bolt work as a puller and not bind on the rotor? Or does this fit into a regular puller that has the arms that fit behind the rotor?
...too much coffee this morning, can't think straight:laugh:

Dave I think I see where the confusion is setting in. What you have to do is first remove the bolt that is threaded into the end of the crank. This bolt is smaller than the threaded hole in the rotor. Once you have that bolt removed you thread the puller or the stem bolt into the rotor and run it in with an impact gun. The end of the puller will hit the end of the crank and then pull the rotor loose from the tapered press fit that is holding it on. I think it will become clearer to you once you remove the bolt.
