I got a chance to buy a six cylinder and was hoping to find some knowledgable person that would know if it would be worth my trouble to part the bike out.
All i know that the bike run before a novice worked on it. Roy

I've got a couple of em. There's good money in the bits and pieces, probably more than the whole thing if you're willing to take it apart and manage the auctions. How many e-bay auctions have you listed?

I've listed a lot of eBay auctions. You can look me up or add me to your favorite sellers list. My ebay sellers name is roy-b-boy-b. I only sell to the US and Australia. It seem the buyers down under have a hard time getting parts and are prompt with payment.
It was cold the day i looked at the bike and i didn't check it out really good. If i buy it i will probably see if i can get it started so i can list the parts as coming off a running bike.
How many years was this bike in production?
The owner wants a hundred bucks for the bike so i know i can cover the cost of the bike. Roy

If you end up buying it Roy, be sure to bring an NFL sized helper to load it on the truck. Those things weigh a ton.;)

Hey Andy, I've been doing this a long time.I have a winch on my trailer. It's good for draging bikes when the bike has been sitting so long the chain is rusted.
My problem at the time is storage space.I have five bikes in my shop now and i need Jamie to sqeeze through to turn the lights on. Roy

Roy,

How's it going? The Kz1300 were made from 79-82, I believe. They Touring model (Kz1300B2) was made only in 1980.

The Zn or ZG1300 was made for a couple years after the KZ moniker was dropped and remained mostly the same engine wise except for FI.

Maybe someone can help out...

Later, Doug

BTW, the Touring model takes up 1.5 times the space as a normal bike does. (Ask me how I know.)

The KZ1300 was the same from 79-83. The ZN1300 was from 84-88 about half the engine is interchangeable the other is not. I own two and have been working on them since 1979 when I bought mine new. The bike is not worth the effort to try and make some money on parts. Complete heads on eBay will sit unsold for as little as $30. Transmissions were so heavy-duty they are almost un-sellable (not sure that is a word:P ) You will put a lot of work into disassembly and get a very small return. I bought more than half a bike including the frame, differential, Fuel tank, and major engine components for $150. You would be better off selling it complete and just marking it up a few bucks.

Hi Roy,

The KZ1300 was first produced in 1979. In 1980 they fitted them with a different shaped oil pan to solve an oil starvation problem. After that they pretty much stayed the same till they fitted them with fuel injection in 1982 or 83. I believe that, from memory here, 1982 was the last KZ1300 after that they were Voyagers. The last year for the 1300 was 1988. So from 1986 thru 1988 you could get a Voyager in either four or six cylinder models. Actually I don't believe that both versions were ever offered for sale in the same country at the same time.

The engine did change from 83 to 84. They look similar but they are not. They have about as much in common as a 81 GPz1100 has to a 84 GPz1100 engine. but even less so.

Hi Otakar,

They did evolve overtime. Almost every year has a specific ignition system. I'm sure there were other differences as well. The one in my avatar is an 81 and my Voyager is an 85.

Are both of yours runners?

They were, untill I decided to do some major hi performance upgrades.
Finely Started, KZ1300 INTERCEPTOR "Pictures as available" (KZ Rider)
You can check out the one I am the furthest on here. I decides to install a ZN1200 front end, I designed and installed new sleeves and punched it out with 11:1 pistons. Nology coils with Nology Hotwires, 86 hi-density radiator and a GPZ oil-cooler. I sent my cams to WebCam and had them hard welded and reground for some serious lift. My paint job is almost finished except the fuel tank. I am also making a new front fender which I will be able to mount on the 1200 cross-brace. the head now has 36.5mm intake valves and is ported. Carburetors were bored out and I am useing pod filters.
