we want to see your pictures, kz650 with 18" mags
23 Jan 2008 21:06
Hi everyone, thank you for reading my post. I am trying to decide if I want to put 18" mags, on my KZ650CSR H-1. I plan on putting a different front end on at the same time. Something with the front axle under, not in front of the fork, and I want dual disks also. If anyone has similar pics I would really appreciate the help and input.
signed, Mr.Dilema.
Oh, maybe stick with spoke?? is there an 18" rear drum spoke out there for me??hmm.

Here is a pic for ya. It belongs to a member here, Mellvis. It's a KZ650 SR with the dual disc mag wheels. This is what your looking for as H1Vindicator says.

The 1977-1979 B series of Kz650's had 18 inch spokes with rear drum brake.
You might have to use the whole swingarm too, but it should bolt right up.

Thanks guys. Now for the hunt. First I will look for the 18" spokes, if no luck, I hope to find the mags.
Hopefully the funds will fall in place along with the parts.

Yes Mark's has 18" front and back wheels.
Most KZs have 19" fronts.

Would the handling be better with 18's front and back? Or am I just hunting a stupid thought I have in my head??
Would a just a set of center axle and shorter forks give me the percieved handling of 18" wheels? or would they together make a great hanldling combo??
:pinch: I am just making more questions, sorry.

I don't think that there would be a huge handling difference (all other things being equal). Be careful swapping from leading axle to straight forks , you need to maintain proper trail dimensions .
