Hi and thanks for the help I recieved the other day regarding my 82 750gpz electrical problem. Got it fixed by unpluging and repluging the 4 pin plug that connects the crankshaft coils to the ic igniter. Runs like a striped ape! In the process of obtaining a fairing for the 750 I have come across a 84 900 ninja with a bad trannie. The bike is a 9.5 otherwise. Can get it for $500 and just wondering what a trannie is going to cost. The bike does not have a scratch on it and I was looking at it for just the fairing but it seems like it deserves being make whole again. Am I nuts? Joe

The tranny parts won't be too bad its all the other stuff that you want when you get into the motor. You will have it apart and say to yourself, self I should have the crank trued since I'm in here, self I should see if anyone makes a bigger set of pistons since I'm in here, self since the head is off I should sent it off to APE, self APE has bigger valves for my bike, self I really should get some bigger cams for the fresh head, self I need bigger carbs for the bigger cc's, fresh head and bigger cams and on and on and on...

BTW do you have any pics of the gpz? I just got one a couple of weeks ago and need inspiration.

As the owner of both an 84 and 85 model GPz900R they are a great bike and the gear box is pretty straight forward like any "Z". Its easy to remove the engine and at $500 it is a great buy.

Consider what you want to do with it... the 84 model is going to be collectable in restored/original form.

Hey, Did you want pics of the 750 gpz or the 900? The 9 is still apart and I would prob have to get some digital juice to take that many photo's! The 750 is waiting on a new vaccuum petcock for the fuel tank but I can take pics of that easy. Motorwise on the 750 all I have to do is calibrate the carbs. Seems like the #1 or #2 is slightly popping while idleing. I will make some small adjustments on the idle speed to make sure its not that. I am leaning on getting the 900 but not looking forward to trannie work. Joe

Hi Sidy, I agree it will probably be like a 1957 chevy one day and this one is cherry. Its just that it hit me from left field. I wasn't looking for another bike, just a fairing to put on my recently aquired 750gpz. And there she sits,,, all took apart and begging "fix me fix me". Its kinda sad but I am not made of money and I am not done with the 750 yet. But, I am going to get it anyway somehow. Might not see another one in this good a condition ever again. These bikes are worse than drugs! Shoulda just kept smokin dope! It's cheaper! Joe

ps know anything about basic setup conditions on the 4 adjustable screws on the intake side of the mikuni carbs? I have them at about 4 turns out each.

Pics of the 750. Mine is pretty rough and needs a lot of work. My 78 1000 is down and out for at least 2 years so the 750 will have to be the rider. I did find a gpz 900 that is cheap. I want it but the tax man is coming after me. I have a bunch of stuff on ebay right now so I might be able to get it. :P

I have a bike buying problem...
I just bought a 1986 Ninja 600 GPZ.. Almost complete. No clue if it runs, no title. I may try and get the title, if I can I may fix it and ride it. Otherwise I think it will become parts for my 1993 Ninja 600 I just couldnt pass up that is missing the upper fairing and has bad tires. The 86 has great tires and only missing the windshield and the small side fairings. Personally I'm fond of the 86 so I should probably try and get the title :)
Add that to the 78 KZ1000 (my baby) my almost complete parts bike I think is a 79 KZ1000, and my ATV that just begged to come home with me.. It's getting crowded! I'm looking for a rolling chassis ATV to put my spare KZ1000 engine in
