What makes a bike a streetfighter? Is it an adjective for any bike, any brand?

I just wanted to say welcome to KZR. I'm not going to try to define what exactly a streetfighter is because that always seems to start an arguement around here. I will say that is a really nice looking example of a 1000 LTD you have there. That paint scheme was always my favorite of any of the 1000 LTD's.

Thanks for the comments.

Well there you have it. I guess my confusion about what a Streetfighter is or isnt has just been answered. I do not think my ltd is a streetfighter. I have seen several examples of bikes that have called themselves streetfighters. They all seem to have some nice modifications to them in the speed department along with some "tough" looking mods to the looks of the bike.

Neither here nor there. I was just curious.

Some places might not consider that link "work safe", Rick.

I'm not realy sure what the defenition is my self.but if u look at a Streetfighter magazine they often take a newer bike and remove the fairings for that naked look.and i'd say they tend to be short and agresively road race looking.Anyone else?

On second thought maybe the reason I always liked that paint scheme was this poster.:P

Rick thanks for that link. I think i just spent an hour watching people fight! Good stuff!

Cgray - i would definitely consider that bike a streetfighter.
In my opinion, if you throw on some current suspension, and like you said "muscle up" the look you pretty much got yourself a cool streetfighter .. at least as far as a KZ is concerned.

1975 Z1 900, 1075 wiesco kit, web cams, smooth bores, dyna ignition, denco pipe, lester mags, wicked bad rotors, custom gauge face plates .. not much stock left.

This is my idea of a street fighter.Actually it is a shop fighter as i fight it around the shop to make more room.
It is a 1979 LTD with a 1075 kit. The suspension is from a 900 Ninja like Tom Cruise rode in the movie Top Gun. Roy

Your LTD definately is not a streetfighter. Streetfighter to me is kind of what the words imply. It would be a bike that has fought a lot of battles, been beat to a pulp numerous times, all the stock equipment is broken off from wrecks and/or other abuse. Repainted badly afterwords multiple times, then all unnessessary equipment removed that hasn't already been removed by prior crashes such as fenders, emblems, turn signals ect. That's pretty much it in a nutshell. There are some nice streetfights like Dougs KZ1000, but 99% of the time streetfighter=used up, wrecked, abused motorcycle that has seen it's life pretty much used up and has a misguided owner to match. Sorry if that offends anyone as your mileage may vary. To each his own, just my personal ramblings.

321,000 miles on KZ's that I can remember. Not going to see any more.
