Vanilla's great on its own. It's even better as a starting point.
Aesthetically, visually, whatever, nothing says "Motorcycle!" to me the way a Triumph Bonneville does. I don't want to own one, though: the performance isn't there. The new ones weigh 20 pounds less than my Trident & make about 2/3 of the horsepower.
So, I'll keep riding my Trident with the aftermarket bars, stainless brake lines, retrofitted adjustable forks, Tokico 6-pot calipers, etc., etc.... & I'll keep thinking that those Bonnies sure do look nice.
Cheers,
-Kit (Just dropping by, not really back.)

Rat bike, street fighter? Any difference? Not that I can see. All wrecks, misguided owners with no taste or sense ect. Not all of them, just the majority of them. Same idea as a mexican lowrider 62 Chevy or a truck with 4 ft wide tires sticking out 3.99 ft outside the fenders. Looks stupid to put it mildly.
Maybe you should look into it a bit more and have a clue about it before insulting other people's hard work.

It might help if you would talk to Kit. I think he's still in his denial phase.

Let's see, Streetfighter? Gangmember, right?
No not quite, it's got to be a machine.
But it's somehow connected to the city, isn't it?
Yeah, that's true! No wide open sweepers or long straightaways.
I remember a school chum who used to lead the cops of many a merry chase with his twin engined go cart. He could turn a 180 at close to 40 MPH. He was a street fighter! Till he got home and found that they had his garage surrounded. He was a good student after that.
If I had to define a street fighter that only had two wheels, I describe a bike that was designed for close in maneuvering with plenty of low end torque for quick acceleration. No need for streamlining because top speeds are less than 80 MPH. Should have good ground clearance like a TT bike for climbing stairs and other assorted obstacles. Fenders might well be optional because commuting is not part of the mix.
How's that sound?
