Been wanting to swap out the left side Hooker exhaust for a while, not a fan of the loooong sweeping pipes.
Picked up a header for $50 off Craigslist a couple years ago, have no idea what it is but it was on a KZ900 chopper. Finally doing something with it. The muffler needs some love but it was cheap enough $30 shipped.

Thanks.

Quick mock up. Had to make a little bracket so the can cleared the peg. Luckily the pipes are same diameter.

I have the same muffler on my GSXR 7/12, I ended up making the system longer than i wanted to get the muffler higher and tighter for ground clearance. Its already pretty easy to scrape your pegs on these old bikes, make sure the muffler is high enough to ground out after your peg does.

That will be sweet when you are finished with it. Not to steal the thread, but how do you like the KYB rear shocks? Can I ask where you got them? Thanks.

Love the shocks. Found them on Ebay. I found cracked bladders but sourced slightly shorter replacements.

Made the connection by pie cutting a straight pipe and welding the seams. The inlet section of the muffler was a pain to remove, all 4 bolts snapped and I dinged up the can trying to remove it. I'll give it a better finish later on, need the shop space right now. Anyway, pipe is done, new bolts and new packing. Going to wrap it after the paint dries.

Nice work.

One of my regrets in life is not learning how to weld in my younger, stoopider years.

Just waiting on new header bolts. Fits pretty good and is the look I was after.

All done, new gaskets and header bolts. Bike runs great and has a deeper sound than the Hooker. Ill get a video next time out. I think I have $150 total into it with new packing, hardware and all.
