CMR 650/750
28 Feb 2018 16:36
CMR should hopefully start the frame this mid-march. haven't decided on what engine to use. have a complete 650 and a 750. as for running gear. Honda forks, brakes and 17" wheels. the bike in the first pic is a "demo". ill also use "team hammer" endurance fairing and seat/tail piece.

seems to be missing a ring set. and with a bore of 65.52 what would be the chance of finding a replacement ? not likelyMove0ver wrote: well if you get this:

19 May 2018 13:24I like the idea of the 650 with a bigbore kit, but what about a carb option?Move0ver wrote: go with the 650 motor

Mikuni makes RS34 for the kz750 so imagine they would work well for a big bore KZ650. I think 29 smooth-bores would also fit, maybe a bit big but if you're racing should work nicely. If you want a cheaper option, guys are putting Zephyr 750 carbs on kz650s with good results. heres a thread over at kz650.info detailing the swap.

I used a set of Mikuni vm28ss on my Wiseco 710ed kz650...certainly a viable bucks down approach. Previous owner had used vm29 smoothbores so I think they could work.
No idea what class your aiming for but certainly the 750 with an 810 kit is gonna be more power with very little weight penalty and is what I am looking to do next.
I really like the stock 650/750 frame so that CMR job is gonna be awesome.
