it's pretty cool what the lighter weight modern components do for seat of the pants feel.

from standing it up off the kickstand to pulling out of a parking lot it just feels smaller.

the front brakes are effortless.

i guess i need to look into what adjustments are available with these forks,change the fluid etc.

but just to buy something and slap it on i am well chuffed with the whole deal.

Scirocco that is a really nice set of triples. I'm sure the price reflects it though. I bought a triple tree from Hohey customs for 03-06 zx6. They are a stunt company that makes I think a 1'' drop triple so that you can run your clipons on top of your triples. I think it was lik $250 and they have drilled holes for risers and slugs in them in case you want to run clip ons. I still have a lot of work to get them all sorted out but it looks like it will be a cheap alternative

so awesome. I think this may be my favorite Z1R on this site. the combo of the swingarm and front end is killer! plus those brake tech rotors are just icing on the cake.

Yes! on all forks there's an unused portion of stanchion that extends above the top fork bush or below the bottom bush depending on type.
On all usd fork I have worked on so far there is 37mm above the bush, so the damper assembly which controls travel can be extended (lifted up) to allow this portion to be used and therefore safely internally extend the forks by the same amount.
There is a rebound spring in the damper assembly to cushion any impact on the damper when the forks fully extend suddenly ( when doing a wheelie etc ) and when unloaded and in a free state it is possible to pull on the fork lower and extend it by a further 5mm so I deduct this from the 37mm to give a safe 32mm of extension.
On some of the newer forks the top bush is only 5 to 10 mm wide so don't want to risk the top of the stanchion momentarily dropping out of the bush under extreme conditions.

Question, how much offset did you put in? Did you go with the same amount of offset as the stock triple?

offset is the same as stock 00-04 r1 -r6 i used a r6 lower.
which with a little whittlin and welding could render a cheap upper drop triple clamp.
