LTD Turbo bike
20 Aug 2016 18:00 - 20 Aug 2016 18:32
I finally finished up several other projects and now I can concentrate on this gem. I bought if from the original owner, he bought it new from "The Bike Shop" in Hammond Indiana. In 77 he built the first turbo motor 1015cc and ATP. Second motor is 1075 , 7.1/2 to 1 MTC turbo pistons welded crank head work etc.
Bike has 17k miles with less then 3k on the second rebuild. Bike has been sitting in underground parking garage , same spot for 30 plus years
In 2012 he had carb cleaned new fuel pump other maintenance, rode it a few times and parked it again.
Bike came with all the paperwork from new, motor receipts, complete ATP package
enjoy
stay tuned
Here she sat for thirty years
I have no idea how to scan this to my computer so I took a photo

Still looks weird with that 16" rear, needs an 18" wheel and a 2" over swingarm IMHO.
Got a hell of a start there though

I have no use for extended swing arms or LTD's in general, but I am going to respect the past history of the bike. If one man can keep it forty years without butchering up, so can I.
However the 16" rear wheel is going to the scrap yard where it belongs. I picked up a nice set of Kz mags 18" & 19" and having a set of Koni 76K special D's rebuilt. The LTD headlight/ugly bracket and handlebar mounted indicators might hit the trash can as well.
Maybe I will butcher it in a tasteful manor

If that's a real 900 ltd, those wheels would be morris mags. I sold a pitted, badly painted, beat up front on eBay for $150 two years ago.
If that's a set of actual morris mags, you're well on your way to making some of your money back.

My first goal was to get the bike running again, last ran in 2012 and P.O. told me it had carburetor issues.
So I take the carb to a friend who vapor blasted and rebuilt it.
Sure does look purty
But I don't think it's supposed to pump the fuel out like this, Yes that's gas pumping out when I turn the key on. Bummer

The so called self proclaimed kz expert installed the spring wrong on the carb,he did a nice job with the vapor blasting though. I watched a Harley Bendix youtube video and fixed er up.
Bike runs great, I did a 80 mile ride yesterday and stopped and turned up the boost a little bit. She's a runner I took it easy on the 35ish year old tires.
Now it's time to clean it up, scrap all the LTD stuff Z1 clone it
Lost something on the ride
