82 kz650 csr

Practically stole this bike today. I got it for the seat and exhaust. Kerker 4 to 1 for my 81 kz650 810 build. My brother wants a bike and this one will fit the ticket. Not currently running. PO said may be compression or timing issue....they seem totally unrelated. Will get into it tomorrow a little. May need some help on this one...

Agenda:
1. Change to stock exhaust.
2. Install 81kz650 air box? Or keep pods. The kerker headers are pretty blue I think the carbs are a little lean...
3. Change damaged engine side cover.
4. Swap seat with the 81 kz650. The cover is nicer and seems to have some more padding.
5. Repair odometer. The shell looks repaired after a lay down. I happen to have some spare parts...
6. Switch tank to spare black tank. This one has some poor repairs....
7. Paint side covers black.
8. Change out headlight bezel (anyone have one?)
9. Get it running! (Mabe that should be first...)

Hey! I linked that bike in the Clist/Ebay thread!

Glad someone ended up with it that will put it right. I'm doing a brother project too that I got off KSL.

Where are you located? I'm in Sandy, maybe meet up and hit a canyon or 2?

Would love to go for a ride. I need to get some bikes running first. I also live in Sandy.

My bike has been apart a while but I should have it up and running by the spring. As for this one I may be able to get it going but I don't think it's something simple so it may be a winter project as well....

I attached a picture of my soon to be 810 ....you can see I have my work cut out for me.

Don't have runner right now? Bummer!

I'll probably run up Big C today after i get my garage cleaned up. My project got sidetracked by my kid's Cherokee head gasket or it probably would be running by now.

I'll PM you later. It'd be nice to meet a local KZ wrencher. Back to on topic. :)

I have the exhaust from my 81. The 81 is going in the 82 and the kerker's are going on the 81.

The center stand on the 650-CSR will probably bang against the left side muffler. The stock csr LH muffler has a recess for clearance, but the 70s 650 mufflers don't.
