1981 kz1100

Well I have been checkin out this site for info on my ride and thought I would share the transformation with ya. I am a new kzrider member but long time bike nut. I have done a lot of bike restorations over the years but never a kz. I love kawis, been racing them for years. So anywho I bought this 81 kz1100 from a friend who owns a shop 2 years ago.

Last weekend I tore down the kz then attacked it with a saw-zaw and a plaz cutter.

I raked it out and lowered it and started building new frame.

If anyone is in need of stock parts off of the bike let me know,not much is being reused. I am in south Dakota and would let parts go cheap. Please don't ask me to mail the fairing.

Got the neck pieces finished up today and tacked into place.

And the back.

I used my custom metal bender.

I have raced motocross for the last 15 years so I thought I would give it some motocross flavor. Renthal bars, Flo pegs, etc.

This is what Im going for in the end. I know you guys mostly like stock resto or café racer but that just aint me.

I'd be happier with a Kaw tank but I like where you're going. Nothing wrong with going your own way as long as you hit your goal (and maybe not destroy some rare bike in the process)

Got the fender tabs on and mounts tacked in. electronics compartment next.

Started on electronics box,gonna hold battery, all electronics and even my coils. There will be a screened air inlet and outlet. Supposed to rain for next 6 days and my wife leavin town so I should get a lot done,or maybe the beer monster will get me.
