Just out of curiosity, whats the deal with all the polished alloy? Are you doing this to get it looking nice and clean and shining? Or would this be the original finish? Did these bike come out of the factory with 'Highly' polished alloy?

(Im having problems with my build as I enjoy polishing and find it very theraputic but I dont like shiney bits on my bike. I always seem to get carried away with it though and go too far.)

P.S. Hats off to you, lovely build.

Beautiful work Spdygon! Can't wait to see the full transformation. But I think you need to change the title on this thread from Semi- to Full Restoration,

Davido.....if u are referring to the engine. The bottom cases , Block and Head do look a little shinny but with time they should come back to its dull aluminum look. As far as the side covers I did polish them to shine. Engine came out like this from factory.

And the reason for the title ...is because I'm not restoring everything else. All the chrome including bolts washers etc just got clean up. U can see the wear on them.

They also apply clear engine coat. The new coatings are much better than the 40 year old ones. I remember when Bossie looked like that. GOD she was pretty.
