However, I vaguely recall that KZr member loudhvx has posted information about how securing the coil in the factory manner whereby the core is conductive to the bike frame does serve to slightly improve the function of the coil.
But I don't recall the specifics, or maybe didn't comprehend or absorb the electronic mysteries involved as to how securing of the coil has any effect on collapse of the magnetic field causing high tension voltage throughout the secondary loop.
Coil charges while primary winding is grounded through the points or electronic ignition.
Coil fires when primary wiring becomes ungrounded .

The bike did run fine idling while I had the coils just hanging off of the wiring harness.

Followed the line on the tank from the old seat ... but may refine that with more of a point rather than a curve. Rear isn't figured out yet but I taped it up to see how it looks. Will probably mount the stock fender rotated into the bike to have a small 6" fender behind the seat.
