Just a note to say that the '78 and '80 Z1-R have very different wiring harnesses. The diagram for the '80 (D3) will probably be confusing. For example, one of the pictures you posted of the area under the left hand side cover shows the '78 harness junction block (blue/green/white/red set of connectors). These connectors are not present in the 1980 Z1-R.

This is on hold.
On the 7th a car pulled out in front of me at 60 mph. my ltd it trashed.and so am i.
I've just been transferred from trauma hospital to a rehabilitation and recovery
I won't be here for awhile

Hoping you have a speedy and complete recovery.
Im still going thru Physical Therapy from my bike accident and mine was at low speeds.
Breaks my heart to see such a nice 78 LTD torn up. Original beauties like yours are getting rarer and rarer.
