My names Anthony. I just recently purchased a 1981 KZ750 LTD H. It all stock I think and only paid 500 bucks for it and was fully inspectable in VT and runs awesome after running some fresh gas through it and I ride it daily (for now)! I'm looking to do a few things to it but found it being a little difficult being an older bike and all so that's why I am here! The bike has about 17,000 miles and still starts on a dime and idles perfectly. There is a photo attached of my bike and then a photo of a bike close to my goals for my bike.
My first few questions:
-What do I need to purchase as far as a jet kit and what size diameter pods? I'd like to do this first.
-I would like to do a four into 1 setup with a straight pipe,or I have some free screaming eagles I may chop up and put on the dual 2 into 1 manifolds but who knows any suggestions?
-I would also like to lower it atleast 2 inches front and rear, how would I go about this?
-I also want to put on tube clamps instead of the bars and relocate the ignition, is this hard?
Future Plans Include:
-Complete rebuild
-Everything removed and Powder Coated black or matte black
-White wall tires (As wide as I can go)(Sizes?)
-Upgrade my shocks to something modern
-Bigger more badass brakes
I am very mechanical but have always done the car thing, I do things right and want to make sure I don't give it a botch job. I have the money to spend I just need to know what to get :side:
Any suggestions help!
Thanks guys I'll be on here a lot and I'll post progress pictures too! I just need help!

Also, I notice the bike in your photo (goal) has no front brake. Do you really intend to ride a bike with no front brake, or are you planning on skipping that mod? Ed

afotion wrote: No it also doesn'y have suspension haha Just as far as the paint, the bars, doing the jet kit, relocation ignition, lowering it. thats about it i'd say. So I have a CV carb?
Assuming they are the original carbs, yes, they would be CV (constant velocity) carbs. The first diagram below shows the KZ750-H2 (1981-LTD) carbs. Notice the tops of the carbs are covered by a sort of flat plate; those are CV carbs. If you take a look at the second diagram you'll see that the tops of the carbs are very different; those are VM carbs. Ed

According to Kawasaki.com the 1981 KZ750-H2 (LTD); the 1980 KZ750-H1 (LTD); the 1981 KZ750-E2; and the 1980 KZ750-E1 all use the same carbs.afotion wrote: AWESOME Thanks 650ed that helps alot, wouldn't happen to know the diameter of those CV carbs would you? They are def the originals.
I got lucky and found an electronic version of the Kawasaki Service Manual for the KZ750-E1 and H1 (see first link below) and the specs it includes shows both those models using 34mm Keihin carbs, so according to Kawasaki.com your bike will have the same. You may want to download and save a copy of that manual in case it disappears from the internet. I’m sure there is useful info in there for you even though your bike is a year newer.
The second link has some specs on the K750-H2 that you may find interesting. Ed

I had some fun today boys! :woohoo:
I took off my center stand, the dual stock pipes. I added on the 4-1 MAC Exhaust today. :woohoo:
It didn't look like from the research I've done and reading posts on here that I would of gained much but it sure as hell felt like it!
I even managed to stretch my chain enough today that she needs a tightening again :woohoo: she slipped a couple times getting on the highway... gradually of course
I love my 81 kz750 ltd.
The high rise clip ons are next!

I blew up my bike today!!!     :S
First time I have started it in about 2 weeks. It warmed up for atleast 30minutes before doing a quick highway ride down an exit and back. Stopped for gas, left there to a light and took off hard from the light and next thing I know I'm cruising and everytime I roll onto the throttle you hear the knocking . Made it all the way back to my hill and it died. I actually managed to restart it and make it up my hill but now she is toast Rod bearing I'm assuming.
Well... what do I do next ladies and gents?
