Why did you go for a project? was created by faffi
The reasons can be many; want to improve on the stock item, lusting for different styling, wanting something unusual, loving the build process etc.

What was your motive(s)?

Zukdave. That's Bad Ass!! I started my bike cause I thought it would be cheap. I was wrong! I do love the old bike and its been a learning experience. I've put together a couple of V8s but this was my first bike build. I'll never sell it!

+1 Jon! In the end, with the amount I have put into the bike (not counting my own labor), I could have purchased a nice example with all the work already done. But I must say, it was easier justifying the initial purchase cost to may wife. So in retrospect, I didn't have much of a choice, but to buy a project bike ;) .

Initial cost can be a reason... A good one for some of us.
I think that one has to have a love for doing the work themselves and seeing the end results. That's my motivation.

Keeps me from becoming one with the recliner watching endless crap on TV. When I got the bike I started looking at pictures and thought, I gotta make one of those street fighters.

Honestly, never intended to get a bike, then one day at work an olds timer and I were talking, said he has this Kawasaki that he couldn't get running, well, I love a challenge so I told him bring it to my house, and lo and behold, two Weeks later, running bike, when I told him hesaid you can have it for 200 dollars, I thought is just flip it, make a couple hundred, nah, that didn't work out.
I bought the bug.
