I've always wondered if the could be protected by using clear powder coat, but I haven't read about anyone doing that. Ed

Thanks for the reminder. I did that on my Ninja 600 tubes and it's holding up. I may do the same for this one when I pull the wheel off to put on a new tire. But then its going to be the only nice piece of aluminum on the entire bike!
