The problem is the rust was probably into the base material,only way to protect it from coming right back is several really thick coats of wax periodically
Some mothers aluminum polish would do wonders on the oxidized aluminum
Some mothers aluminum polish would do wonders on the oxidized aluminum

Looking good! Being in the middle of a similar project, I know exactly what a huge difference there is between your before & after pics of the engine. It's a large undertaking. I think "slow rolling" is the only way to undertake this type of project. Keep it up!

You can spray a good automotive clear over the polished forks and it will last a long time
