The problem is the rust was probably into the base material,only way to protect it from coming right back is several really thick coats of wax periodically ![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)
Some mothers aluminum polish would do wonders on the oxidized aluminum![B) B)](/media/kunena/emoticons/1.png)

Looking good! Being in the middle of a similar project, I know exactly what a huge difference there is between your before & after pics of the engine. It's a large undertaking. I think "slow rolling" is the only way to undertake this type of project. Keep it up!

You can spray a good automotive clear over the polished forks and it will last a long time
