I made this mod which helps tune the choke setup to different weather conditions. It makes the bike more drivable sooner, while warming up. You might want to try it.

Also, the way the choke plates mount allows them to be adjusted relative to the fast-idle cam. Getting them set just right goes a long way to make the bike easier to ride while the choke is on.

If you set the plates higher, you get more idle speed with less choke, and vice versa. This is in addition to being able to set the final choke-idle-speed with the set screw (or knob in the case of the mod).

Fast-idle mod.

Ok, monkeyfootball is funny leon.

Yah, bike feels small, but dang you can toss this thing around like a, well, a ragdoll...

Lou, that is pretty cool. So far I haven't had to adjust anything on the choke/high idle speed screw, It is actually getting better every time we ride it. At times we have fired it up cold without the choke.

Son is liking it better now that it is running up and down the road. First thing he did was find the original bars off my Z1-R and swap them on to the little teeny bike.

it is more fun to ride a bike when it feels like you can really toss it around, for sure.

the bars really helped the overall stance.
good choice there.

that 550 is in great shape! If mine was in that good of condition I would have totally changed my build plan.

Cant wait to see which direction you go in!
