I had to widen the front mounts since the ZRX tank was wider so I used a 7/16 tap on the original post (perfect fit), threaded (2) 7/16 standoff, cut 2 pieces of 1" flat bar and welded a new mount for the rubber mounts (3/8" bolts) for the front, 1" flat bar for the rear mounts. Pretty straight forward.

Better pic of front setup. I know it looks a little crude, but so do I!

Any new progress? I've been watching for updates on this one as I own the front and rear end of a 97 gsxr750 for my 1980 kz750e.

I like that tank but I think the rear of it should sit a hair lower.

Nah, KZ unfortunately took a back seat to a boat project. Will get back on it when the weather turns cold.

Agreed it would look better lower, but it hits the backbone of the frame at that height.damarble wrote: I like that tank but I think the rear of it should sit a hair lower.

Pretty cool project. Either tank looks good on that bike, the ZRX tank looks good on there.
Remember any time you change the length of your rear susp. linkage to adjust the ride height, you change the spring rate. Go longer for lower, spring rate falls. Go shorter for higher ride height, spring rate goes up. Just a thought.
This is going to look good when you're done.
