Z750 B2 Cafe Build..........Nearly There!!
22 Jun 2012 17:26
Well its taken me about 8 months to get my bike like this. I've still some things to do like fit a chain, new tyres & redo the rearset mounts but i'm pretty much there. Then it'll be getting into getting it going well & im sure im gonna have some teething problems.
Pretty much EVERYTHING has been modified on the bike, some things more complicated than others
Pics are a bit poo as i couldnt find my camera & used my phone but you get the idea
Before
After
I'll have some more pics when totally finished & i can get my hands on the camera!

Very nice Steve! Bike looks great! Looks like you are ready for some country lane curve storming. Do you belong to any local Cafe riding clubs?

That's a shame. So what is kind of clubs / bikes are common over your way? Not even any vintage clubs?

Cheers dude & thanks for the comments! The more i look at it the more i think 'clip-ons' but i'll have to ride it first before making that move. Its 10mm up at the back & 13mm down at the front already with most of the removed weight coming off the back too so i dont wanna overload the front. I'll have to see how it feels

This is the caliper mount.
I also had a disc mount made up to hold the ZX6R rear brake setup but dont have pics of it, its now powdercoated white & fitted to the rim
The tail unit build
florists foam used to get a general shape
Covered in Aluminium foil so the glass resin didnt melt the foam
Filled, primed, sanded, Filled, primed, sanded, Filled, primed, sanded, Filled, primed, sanded, Filled, primed, sanded, Filled, primed, sanded
Ready to paint
Now the seat
Wooden mid section so the trim could be stapled to it, shaped to fit a 'bent to fit' piece of aluminium that matched the lines of the seat base, this was used so i could fit rivet nuts to attact the seat to the base
Trimmed with seat foam

Wiring
This is partially wired but i wanted a pic like this, you can see the light switch in the box at the top left & the main on/off switch in the top right, when its off everything shuts down so i can start with no lights, i think thats easier on the battery
