My GT 750 cafe project

10 May 2012 11:44

I bought a Kawasaki gt750 from ebay for 400 pounds and decided to transform it into a cafe racer.
Since then I found that the bike came with not gaskets, broken engine nuts, things bolted upside down, tubes going where they shouldn't, and it still ran.
Here is the project, it's still going.
The problem now is getting the carbs running proper. Any ideas on main jet and pilot jet I should use with the pods and the new pipes?

some more pics

need to get a smaller license plate!
Does anyone know what disc brakes fit the gt750 or gpz750. I'm looking for something stronger, the ones I have are a bit worn!

I did the same thing, sanded my tank while still on the bike. Dust and crap everywhere, Next time I will do it off the bike. I dig the tan seat cover!

Yes! I'm still trying to get all of the dust of. I guess I have to take it to a professional cleaner now. I've tried to clean it a few times now, but I'm afraid of getting water into the pods and crankcase and electrics.

looking back now I don't know why I did it on the bike, it was a bad idea.

I feel your pain. I just wiped off what I could, and rode it around for a while. I still can see some dust in the deep crevases here and there, but it will go away eventually... i hope!

Thanks Br3ak.

I had it done. used the original seat, re-chapped the foam myself, bought the leather, sketched what I had in my mind and found a upholstery place in London to do it. It costed me £90. I don't know where you are based, but if you live in London I can give you the contact.

Looking good. I've also been reworking a GT750. It's good to see threads like this because there's not many pimped out GT's around.

Anyway, I'm interested in the carbie issue you were having. How'd you resolve it?

My engine is stalling at idle, which seems like a carb problem. I'm going to put new air filters on like you did, so I want to kill two birds with one stone in regards to sorting out the carbs.

P.S. I've got pics on my thread: kzrider.com/forum/2-engine/589684-kawasa...750-cafe-racer-build
