I'm finally getting to the point in my project where I'm spending almost as much time actually getting work done as I am standing around drinking beers and talking about getting work done! SO, I figured it was time to get a thread going. I picked up a 1977 kz650c1 last fall and began tearing down over the winter. This is how I got her- pretty much stock save for the paint, pod filters, kerker 4into1, and superbike bars.

Son, you just don't understand, it ain't the car I want- it's the brunette in your 'vette that turns me on!!

Last fall I started teardown. Here're some pics from when I still had it in the garage up at my apartment. I eventually got it stripped down to a rolling chassis and stuffed the whole job into my hatchback. That's right folks, I fit an entire kz650 in a SAAB 9-3!!! My car was packed to the teeth with the frame complete with wheels, the engine, and the rest of the bike in various boxes. I wish i had a picture of that sight but it was night time! The last few pics are when I got it down to my garage at my mom's house and started cutting all the junk off the frame.

My goal with the bike is to strip it down to a bare mechanical/industrial look (my favorite builders are the wrenchmonkees), while incorporating a turbo and as many parts from 18 wheelers as possible. My dad drove trucks and had a peterbilt my whole childhood, so there is no dearth of pete odds and ends around "the barn" (what my family calls my dads HUGE two tractor garage). Here's the turbo i will be using and a more recent pic of how she sat as of around a month ago- the headlight is an old fog lamp from a truck I had laying around

Spent most of the winter trying to get funds up- sold unneeded stock parts on eBay for a total of around $400. Not too shabby for a bike I paid $700 for. :P Stock junk paid for my turbo setup

Here's one look i was playing with, kind of cliche, but popular for a reason I guess. Love those cafe lines

Think I'm going to go with a real shallow bench seat instead. Here's the bike with a seat pan I made, and a few pics of my favorite wrenchmonkees bike that I'll try an make my seat look somewhat like.

Got the creative juices flowing, messing around with using a spent fire extinguisher as a plenum for the intake manifold. Im thinking I can replace the extinguisher's gauge with a more accurate boost gauge that only goes up to a bar or 2 I'll probly run less than a bar though, maybe 8 psi, nothing crazy

Another thought I had was to use the spent extinguisher as an airtank to run the AIRHORN!!! Then I could hit the sprayer handle to honk the obnoxious horn. Yup, I'm going to be that asshole. It wouldnt be much of a peterbilt without a turbo and an airhorn anyway

Well that's about all I've got so far. Last weekend I had a friend weld up the exhaust and mate it to the turbo flange (had to chop the kerker- sinful, i know) and also drilled out the flange going out of the exhaust side of the turbo so i can fit the exhaust pipes. The larger of the two is the regular turbo exhaust, and the second one is the dump pipe for the wastegate. Sorry for the terrible quality of the pics, I'll have to get better ones next time I'm home from school for a weekend. These my buddy took on his iphone, and then sent to my phone, which for some reason makes them into a single slideshow, making it impossible to put them on my computer. So, i used my webcam to take a pic of my cell phone screen- pretty high tech stuff. Hopefully you get the idea though
