Hahaha yup should be fun!! I'll be happy if it runs for a season before the turbo blows up. When it does i'll get a bigger one!! or just revert to N/A

So i picked up a parts bike 2 weeks ago for the project, a 1977 KZ650B1- the one I already had is a 77 KZ650C1. The difference is pretty much the wheels and brakes as far as I can tell. I wanted to have a spare engine in case i do end up blowing mine up, and I wanted the spoke wheels from the B cause they look better.

BUT, I got greedy and still wanted the dual disc brakes up front (the wire wheel only had one). The brakes bolted right up and I put it back together, and then I went to put the cast wheel and the single rotor from the wire wheel (i actually swapped both rotors cause the single rotor was about 1/16th of an inch wider than the 2 on the cast wheel) on the parts bike just for safekeeping or whatever. When I rolled the wheel under and lowered the forks down on, the clamp seats didn't line up. I didn't notice much of a discrepancy when I was putting the spoke wheel back on my bike- but once i tried to put the cast wheel on the B there was clearly something up.

Is it possible that the axle is wider on the C than the B to accommodate the dual discs? Which would mean that the fork spacing and the triple clamps are wider too. Which means that I would have to swap the entire front end if I want the spoke wheel, and I lose the second brake  I think I messed up. Has anyone done this before? Am I flying too close to the sun with my dual disc wire wheel dream??

The first pic attached is the spoke wheel on my bike lookin nice, and the second one is of the fork not matching up to the cast wheel on the parts bike

The headache over the wheel swap debacle put a bit of a damper on my garage day but I won't let it keep me from dreaming about what this thing's gonna be like when its done! I was playing around with the stock seat pan from the parts bike I picked up and I'm thinking about chopping it up to make a little seat cowl
